The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands will host its 5th Annual Charity Classic Golf Tournament on April 1 at Laolao Bay Golf Resort.

The proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit The Mariana Islands Nature Alliance, the Mariana Tourism Education Council, and the HANMI scholarship fund. The event will be the first major golf tournament of the year and will have a capacity to handle up to 200 golfers for a 7:30am start. Following the game will be an evening banquet featuring dishes prepared by each of the HANMI member hotels.

HANMI hosts this event each year to help promote the hospitality industry. In past years, the funds raised have been used for a variety of charitable purposes and activities of the non-profit organization throughout the year.

“Protecting our environment is not only important for tourists but to the quality of life of all CNMI residents, so we have selected MINA as an organization we would like to help through our tournament this year. We also want to continue our support to teaching young people about tourism and have also selected MTEC as a second recipient for this year’s HANMI Charity Classic,” said HANMI chairwoman Lynn Knight.

The fee for this year’s tournament will be $125 for early registration by March 24 and $150 thereafter. Entry forms and sponsorship opportunities may be obtained by contacting Andy Tidwell at 234-1305 or Lynn Knight at 233-3773.

Founded 20 years ago, HANMI is a forum for executives in the hotel industry and allied members. (PR)
