Saints upend G-Rollers II, Sixers II nip CK Kings
Action in the 2006 Inter-Village Youth Basketball League picked up the past couple of days with CK Saints and CK Kings going opposite ways.
On Tuesday night at the Chalan Kanoa Basketball Court, Luizi Reyes exploded for 30 points to almost single-handedly lead CK Saints to a 45-31 win over Garapan Rollers II.
Reyes tossed eight points in the opening quarter as the Saints led by a point, 11-10. He slowed down a bit with just a deuce in the second, but CK extended its margin to 17-13 at the break.
He was back to his old form in the third canto, firing 10 points as the Saints built a 29-23 spread, then matched that output in the fourth and final quarter to pace Chalan Kanoa to the 14-point win.
Zack Tudela supported Reyes with 11 points, while Jason Palacios led G-Rollers II with eight points.
CK Kings were not as fortunate though as it fell to Sixers II in a hotly contested match, 39-36, Monday night at the Garapan Basketball Court.
After a 12-12 deadlock in the first quarter, Sixers II took the initiative and led 21-18 at the half only to have CK Kings turn the tables leading 34-32 entering the final eight minutes of the contest.
But Sixers II would push the hardest in the fourth, as it outscored CK, 7-2, to leave with the victory.
Joseph Taitano was the high scorer for Sixers II with 15, while Scott Blewett was the game’s top pointman with 18.
