Enforcers, CHC put up strong performances
The Department of Public Safety Enforcers and Commonwealth Health Center had their way on the hard court of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium Tuesday night as action in the 2006 Inter-Government Basketball League continued.
Facing fellow law officers and defending champion No Zone, the Enforcers rallied from a 10-point deficit and picked up the team’s fourth win with a 98-85 victory.
The Enforcers were given a good run for their money as No Zone opened with a bang, getting nine points from Ned Norita and seven from Ed Diaz to fuel a 26-16 run.
The Enforcers were able to put up a better attack in the second and closed to within a point, 49-50, by outscoring their opponents, 26-20, with guard Joe Ito taking command and punching 12 points to lead the way.
Things continued to go in the Enforcers’ way as Jake Celes and Ito nailed back-to-back triples and Peter Camacho drilled in 10 points to force a change of command that featured the Enforcers swinging favor to their corner, 75-70, with 10 minutes left in the bout.
Camacho continued to have a fiesta and Ito kept pouring in the points as the two spearheaded a 23-15 run to push the Enforcers to victory.
Camacho and Ito finished with 29 points apiece to lead the Enforcers, while Oscar Sablan and Elias Saralu added 12 and 11 points.
Jess Stole led No Zone with 17 points, while Norita and Diaz had 16 and 15 points. Carl Hocog and John Sablan chipped in 13 and 10 points.
