The 2006 Winter/Spring Season of the Budweiser Open 8-Ball League will start tonight in various venues on island.

Unlike last season’s single division format, the winter spring edition of the 8-ball competition features two divisions—the Tapochao Division and the Banzai Division.

Defending champion Da Place Sure Shoots begin its title defense on the road as its players take on USSP Dreams in the Tapochao Division at the USS Pelileu Club.

The other first day match in the expert category features the other two teams in the division, as last season’s runner-up Round Two Hustlers goes up against USSP Fotten Palau at the former’s digs at Round Two Bar & Grill.

The six-team Banzai Division opens with Wild Wild West taking on VFW Pool Warriors at VFW Post 3457. Godfather’s What Doin will also see action at home against Jewel Night Shooters, while VFW Fotten Gaga will play Vargas Hot Shots at USSP in the third and final matchup of the venung.

Rules of the Billiards Congress of America would be applied throughout the competition, save for some exceptions that organizers have already discussed with team captains and their players.

Teams taking part in both divisions of the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League would be made up of a minimum of four teams and a maximum of eight teams. Teams must also play all players in their roster that show up for the match.

Pacific Amusement, the same company that runs the leagues of the Saipan Electronic Darts Association, organizes the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League. For more information about the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League and the SEDA leagues, contact Vivien Elloraza at 233-4397.
