Do you know of any person, organization or business establishment actively engaged in protecting our environment and natural resources? Do you know any child, aged 10-17 years, that has “saved” the environment through a class project? If so, nominate them for the Environmental Stewardship Award.

The Division of Environmental Quality is requesting the members of the community to nominate a business, nonprofit, school or government organization, individual or young person that has contributed their time and efforts to environmental protection in our community.

Projects or community efforts include, but are not limited to habitat restoration, schoolyard beautification, energy and waste reduction, environmental education and community outreach, wildlife protection, and natural resource conservation.

Award-winners must have engaged in projects that demonstrate significant environmental impact to the CNMI.

Inquiries may be sent through fax 664-8540 or email deq.nonpoint@saipan.com or deqpio@pticom.com for Fran Castro or Reina Camacho.

Nomination forms are available for download through the DEQ website at www.deq.gov.mp.

Nominations and supporting documents are due to DEQ on April 12, 2006 before the close of business.

DEQ annually awards outstanding environmental heroes. (PR)
