For the second time, Kagman High School is serving as host to two Japanese high school students from Johoku High School.

Students Kyohei Taguchi, 11th grader and president of the student council, and Satoru Kubota, 10th grader and vice president of the student council, are currently on the island for an exchange program. Johoku’s science teacher Yuta Akutsu accompanied the two to the CNMI. The three of them arrived on Saipan last Wednesday.

Johoku High School is located at a rural area in Japan called Ibaraki Prefecture.

“Although we were from the countryside of Japan, I was really amazed how beautiful Saipan is. I am looking forward to enjoy swimming in the beautiful sea with friends,” said Kubota.

KHS student Alexis Jude Fejeran invited the students to stay at his parents’ house for the first two nights and showed the exchange students around. Fejeran took them to Street Market. Taguchi tried Apigigi for the first time and tasted other local foods. “I like Saipan food very much.”

Akutsu said he is filming and documenting his visit on the island. “He is going to make a report about their trip to the entire students in Johoku High School when he goes back to Japan,” said Pacific Development, Inc. officer Mario K. Espeleta.

In November last year, 15 KHS students and a teacher visited Johoku High School. The KHS students were very happy to mingle with the Japanese students and were glad to see Akutsu again on Saipan.

On Saturday the Japanese students and their host family all went to the Managaha Island for leisure and yesterday they went on a barbecue spree at the Micro Beach in San Roque.

Today the student will all go back to KHS for a final visit before their departure back to Japan by the end of the day.
