Roxanne stars as Sixers win this time
Roxanne Duenas showed the boys how to play ball, scoring 16 points in leading San Antonio Sixers I to a 64-25 rout of Garapan Rollers II Thursday night in the 2006 Inter-Village Youth Basketball League.
The victory avenged Sixers II’s 31-45 beating in the hands of Garapan Rollers I the evening before.
Duenas got going in the first quarter, mocking all defenders en route to scoring six points to give Sixers I a 14-4 spread.
She added another six points in the second, which was matched by Mathew Duenas, as the Sixers I continued to roll and were on top, 38-11, at the break.
Roxanne Duenas slowed down a bit at the start of the second half, producing only a deuce in the third. But Rico Salas and Chris Duenas ably filled her shoes and pumped in four points apiece as Sixers I dominated the quarter and went into the fourth and final canto ahead by a mammoth 33 points, 50-17.
It was all over but the shouting, as both Sixers I and G-Rollers II emptied their respective benches in the match’s final eight minutes. Roxanne tossed in another two points for good measure.
Matthew Duenas supported Roxanne Duenas with his 10 markers, while Salas, Lawrence Echon, and Emmanuel Bautista chipped in six points apiece in the win, which moved Sixers I in a tie with rival G-Rollers I at 2-0.
Jason Palacios was the lone bright spot for G-Rollers II with nine points. The loss evened the team’s win-loss record to 1-1.
