A firefighter’s son was arrested for allegedly shattering their house’s glass window and threatening to hurt his mother at their residence on Saipan Sunday night.

Jeffrey Pilas Mailo, 37, was detained for alleged assault and criminal mischief. The Superior Court yesterday imposed a $1,000 cash bail for his temporary release. The preliminary hearing was set for Feb. 28.

Detective Juan C. Mendiola stated in his report filed in court that Mailo was intoxicated when he arrived home Sunday at 10pm.

Mailo asked his mother to give him the car’s key, but the mother refused because he was already intoxicated.

During their argument, the defendant allegedly picked up a slipper and threw it at her mother.

The mother reportedly got scared and locked herself inside the bedroom. Mailo punched the bedroom’s sliding window twice, shattering it.

The mother jumped out through the window and ran away. She then called her husband, who was then on duty at the Garapan fire station. The firefighter called the police.

The defendant also allegedly threatened his mother.

Emergency medical technicians treated Mailo’s hand, which had cuts after he punched the glass window. He was then arrested.
