Mckenzie is February Princess
Youth bowler Mayanne McKenzie earned some cash over the weekend as she bagged Princess of the Lanes honors Sunday at the Capital Bowling Center.
McKenzie had her hands full as she barely got over the hill after receiving tough competition from Joshua Alegado and Keno San Pablo. Despite the tough challenge, McKenzie was able to reign supreme courtesy of her total score of 590 pins.
McKenzie was on fire on her first game as she bruised 180 pins. She cooled off and knocked down 108 pins in her second game before closing with scores of 164 and 138 pins for an average of 147.5 pins per outing.
Finishing just two pins behind was Alegado, who connected on 114 pins in the opener before heating up for 155 and 143 pins in his second and third games. He then closed with 176 pins for a total of 588 pins and an average of 145 pins per game.
San Pablo was also in contention for the title as he finished with 582 pins, averaging 145.5 pins per game. He fired 157 pins in the first game, 136 in the second, 118 in the third, and left his mark on 171 pins in his fourth game.
With the win, McKenzie earned $40, while Alegado and San Pablo took home $20 and $15 for their second and third place finishes.
Others who competed include James Jucutan (548), Donna Hensley (546), Christielyn Camacho (542), Jeremy Williams (528), Zack Cruz (526), Roger Breo (520), J.D. Torres (518), Jared Gutierrez (495), and Ken Yoshimoto (481).
The Prince and Princess of the Lanes contest is held once a month and is organized by the Saipan Bowling Association.
Meanwhile, 2005 King of the Lanes Richard Leong led the monthly King of the Lanes competition after one day of play with a total score of 898 pins. Right behind the veteran is youth standout Raymond Angeles (878) and Jon Eparwa (794).
Leading the Queen of the Lanes contest was Emi Williams with 726 total pins while Mel Regis (660) and Gina Sablan (656) are right behind.
The King and Queen tournaments concluded last night. Official results were not available as of press time.
