Immigration agent nabs alleged over-staying cook
An Immigration agent arrested on Thursday an alleged over-staying alien worker who unlawfully worked as a cook.
Immigration investigator John Peter said he arrested Sarah G. Gascon, 51, at Capital Bowling in Garapan after verifying she was working as a cook-helper for a company.
Peter said Gascon, a Filipino, was issued a nonresident worker’s entry permit that expired on April 2, 2003.
Peter said that on Nov. 26, 2005 he received tips that the respondent has been illegally working as a babysitter.
The investigator said that on Feb. 8, 2006, he received tips again that Gascon has been working as a cook at Capital Bowling.
He said the respondent was found working as a cook-helper with Saint Trading, a company engaged in catering services to Capital Bowling.
Peter said Gascon does not have any temporary work authorization for her to be employed by Capital Bowling, Saint Trading or anybody.
Gascon has a pending employment application for employment status with Victoria B. Cabrera as a house worker. She also has a pending labor case, the investigator said. (Ferdie de la Torre)
