DFS employees donate 1K to Karidat
The DFS Galleria employees’ association, DFS Durables, donated $1,000 from the association’s funds to Karidat, a social service group in the CNMI.
Led by the DFS officials Mark Sullivan, Marian Aldan-Pierce, and Ben Babauta, the group handed over the check to Karidat director Angie Guerrero. The donation was held at the second floor of the DFS Galleria in Garapan.
DFS Durables committee officers Remy San Nicolas, Trisha Tenorio, Debra Estafanos and Gemma Goode were also present during the brief ceremony.
Guerrero acknowledged the generosity of the group and said she is thankful for the donation.
“It would definitely help the program in many ways,” she said.
Guerrero said the board would decide how and where to use the money.
Tenorio said the employees association has been donating to groups in the CNMI for a long time now. The money they donated came from last year’s committee funds.
She said the group was established in 1981. To date, DFS Durables has more than 190 members across the globe. She added that these members are loyal employees, with a minimum of five-year employment at DFS.
The group initially thought of donating the money to the American Red Cross NMI Chapter but they realized that Karidat would benefit more from the donation since the group directly caters to the local community’s needs. (Marconi Calindas)
