Four named to NMC board
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial has appointed four additional members of the Northern Marianas College’s Board of Regents.
The new appointees are former Education commissioner Rita Inos, former NMC president Agnes McPhetres, businessman Jay Jones, and Linsa F. Lizama.
“Kindly extend your full cooperation and support to these new appointees, so they may capably assume their new responsibilities under my office,” Fitial told all government agencies in a memorandum yesterday.
The appointments require Senate confirmation.
The NMC board also acts as the State Board of Regents. It is an autonomous body composed of seven members, including one each from Tinian and Rota, one from the Carolinian community, and one from the women sector. Only four of the regents can be working in government; the three others should be from the private sector.
Individuals currently serving on the Board of Regents are chairwoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds, representing Tinian; Eloise A. Furey, representing Saipan; and Elaine H. Orilla, representing Rota.
The new appointees will replace former regents Margarita Olopai-Taitano, Galvin S. Deleon Guerrero, Abelina C. Cabrera, and Jose C. Sablan. (Agnes E. Donato)
