Good food, good coffee, good music, good times!
“Music…with a touch of smooth” is how Strums describes its music. Now you can experience it for yourself at Café at the Park every Thursday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Strums is the island’s newest addition to the live music scene. With its acoustic mix of country, folk, ballads, alternative, pop, and jazz—this trio of strings and voice strums its way into the hearts of its crowd.
The trio began one night over a cup of coffee. As two friends poured over their latest gigs at the islands newest landmark—Café at the Park and Java Beach Espresso—they envisioned a night where people gather around to enjoy great food, good coffee and good music. It was a stroke of luck that they met the proprietor of Café at the Park—Gabriel Boyer—who was having similar thoughts. The rest, as they say, is history.
Strums is Ian Dionson on lead vocals with Darrel Hudson and Ferdie Guinto on backup vocals and guitar. All established musicians, the three have been involved with other bands and projects both on and off island. Ian has several years of recording, theatrical and concert experience under his belt. He started his life as a performer at age 8. Darrel and Ferdie have been playing together since they were in high school. The trio are also members of the band La Pescadores, which made its debut at the 2005 Flame Tree Festival.
Café at the Park has been open since August 2005 and is located directly across from American Memorial Park. Lunch or dinner reservations may be made by calling 233.1010. (PR)
