The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. implemented an emergency load shedding yesterday beginning late afternoon until 11pm due to a mechanical failure—a cracked cylinder liner—at Engine No. 6.

The load shedding was first implemented on Feeder 1-Second Partial, from 5pm to 7pm, affecting residents in Upper MIHA and portions of Garapan and China Town.

From 7pm to 9pm, power was turned off at the Kiya 1-Second Partial, affecting consumers in Lower Dandan, portions of Upper Dandan and Isley Field, CPA/Airport, Koblerville, As Perdido and As Gonno.

From 9pm to 11pm, areas covered by Kiya 2-Second Partial were affected, including Chalan Kanoa Distric 3, portions of Districts 1 and 2, Tun Doi Road, Fina Sisu, portions of As Perdido, Chalan Piao and San Antonio.

Traffic lights, water and sewer services at most of these areas were also affected.

CUC said it is diligently working to repair Engine No. 6, and is expected to be back up this morning. (PR)
