MVA participates in Tokyo dive fest

The Marianas Visitors Authority recently participated in the 20th Diving Festival 2006 Resort & Tour that was held at the Tokyo Big Sight for three days.

In order to boost the number of diving-oriented visitors to the CNMI, the MVA extensively promoted its beautiful beaches and the CNMI’s great underwater visibility during the exhibition, which ran from Feb. 3 through 5.

While the MVA booths distributed brochures and materials introducing diving opportunities in the CNMI, representatives of the Northern Mariana Diving Operators Association provided visitors of all ages with the latest information first hand.

The annual CNMI Diving Quiz event was conducted on Feb. 5 with a variety of luxury prizes, including a 4-day/3-night-tour tickets for two flying on Northwest Airlines; hotel vouchers of Fiesta Resort & Spa, Saipan World Resort Hotel and Aqua Resort Club; deluxe gift items from DFS; local optional tours; and “Saipan-da!” goods.

The “Saipan-da!” character from Saipan warmed up the event and offered to play a role in promoting the pleasure of diving in the CNMI.

The exhibition was held at the West Hall 4 of Tokyo Big Sight and was organized by the Japan Scuba Association.

Based on the data provided by organizers, visitor count to the exhibition showed that a total of 28,306 persons saw the show.

The visitor count were broken down into:
* Feb. 3: 3,046 (travel trade 2,801)

* Feb. 4: 12,408 (travel trade 968 & general public 11,440)

* Feb. 5: 12,852 (travel trade 651 & general public 12,201)

* Total 28,306 (travel trade 4,420 & general public 23,886). (PR)
