Reyes bags the Benjamins at World Resort
A crowd estimated by event coordinators at 150 gathered into the Royal Taga Hall A at the newly remodeled Saipan World Resort on Monday to watch the Pittsburg Steelers beat the Seattle Seahawks, 21-10, in Detroit, Michigan during Super Bowl XL, but one of them left a little happier than the rest.
Fourteen-year-old Jay Reyes had a big smile on his face when his Steelers won their fifth National Football League title in team history, but it grew even bigger when organizers called his number during their grand prize drawing.
When asked what he was going to do with the winnings, Reyes said that he was still unsure, and that he never had that much money in his hands a one time.
“It feels bad a_s! I don’t know what I’m going to do, but I am gonna be $500 richer,” said Reyes.
The pride of Hopwood Junior High School said that he decided to go to World Resort because all of his friends were interested in watching the biggest game on the biggest screen on island.
According to event coordinators, the fans were able to enjoy a crystal clear picture on the enormous 20’x15’ screen in the newly commissioned hall, as well as hear the sounds of the game on their booming sound system.
While Reyes and his friends were enjoying their fill of unlimited food and bottomless Pepsi products, the Over-21 crowd was doing the same with Coor’s Light on the island’s only smoke-free party.
