The Marianas Visitors Authority officially opened yesterday a branch office in the Philippines that will serve to market the CNMI in that country and broaden its market base.

The MVA, in cooperation with Continental’s Ground Service Agent in the Philippines, unveiled the new office located on the ground floor of the SGV II Building on Ayala Avenue, Makati City. The office is situated in the same vicinity where Continental’s GSA operates.

“This office will serve as a marketing office looking at opportunities to expand the MVA’s tourism base on the expatriate market and the Nursing Certification Licensing Examination better known as the NCLEX,” said MVA board of director member J.M. Guererro.

The new MVA office was opened with the help of Citadel Holdings executive Ricardo C. Delgado, who was named an honorary tourism ambassador for the CNMI during a board meeting last year. Delgado, whose company owns Pacific Telecom Inc. in the CNMI, had offered his assistance to establishing an MVA tourism marketing office in the Philippines.

The MVA held a press conference with Delgado at the new office yesterday, during which various media of the trade were present. There was a short presentation thanking Delgado for his support and contribution to the CNMI’s tourism industry.

A joint seminar presentation hosted by Continental Airlines, the Guam Visitors Bureau, and the MVA also took place yesterday. This joint seminar provided updated information on the destination’s products and services available to the traveling public from the Philippines.

In addition, the MVA will also participate in the 13th annual Philippine Travel Expo slated for this weekend.

The International Business and Professional College joined the MVA in this opportunity for two consecutive years. Vince Merfalen, vice president of IBPC, joined MVA’s Wayne Pangelinan on the presentation of CNMI products and services ,while emphasizing on the destination’s ability as an affordable testing center for NCLEX.
