All three of the top teams in the Women’s Island-Wide Slow-Pitch Softball League added wins to their belts on Tuesday night by taking advantage of the bottom three under the lights at Tan Ge Field at the Oleai Sports Complex.

Bomsoro got the ball rolling early on as they toppled the Tanapag Lady-8ers (2-9), 16-9, but the first place squad was not always in complete control of their opponents despite solid games from a number of stars.

Second baseman Arcy Moncrief was perfect at the plate with four singles, two runs batted in, and a run scored in four at bats, while shortstop Joyce Taro went 3-for-4 with three singles and a pair of ribbies.

The combo has done well patrolling the infield while Dolores Rangamar, Connie Camacho, and Mary Skilang have been taking care of the outfield. Rangamar rocked the plate with a single and an inside-the-park homerun to finish the night 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, while Camacho went 3-for-4 with three singles and three plate crossings. Skilang was also productive with the swat stick, as the center fielder went 3-for-5 with three singles and a pair of runs batted in on the night.

After controlling the game for the better part of four innings, Bomsoro gave up its advantage in the top of the fifth when Pat Norita zipped across home plate to give the Lady-8ers their only lead of the game, 7-6.

The Bomsoro girls didn’t let them enjoy the spotlight for too long as they rallied to score six runs off of five hits in their next at bats in the bottom of the fifth to regain the lead, 12-7. Tanapag answered with a pair in the top of the sixth, but Bomsoro added four in the bottom of the inning to put the game to bed.

Mix-A-Lot 13, Pacific Amigas 6

Mix-A-Lot maintained its face in second place by pelting the Pacific Amigas with runs in five out of seven innings at the Oleai Sports Complex on Tuesday to earn its seventh win of the season, 13-6.

The outcome was never in question as Mix-A-Lot led by as many as 10 runs as early as the fourth inning thanks to power-packed performances at the plate from the likes of Liz Lebria, Charlene Cabrera, Julie Omar, and Tanya Camacho.

Lebria went 3-for-4 on the night with a single, a double, and an inside-the-park homerun while driving in three scores, while Cabrera also went 3-for-4 with a string of singles and an RBI.

The duo wasn’t the only connection smacking the ball around Tan Ge Field as Tanya Camacho went 3-for-4 with a single, a double, a triple, and drove in a run, while Pauline Camacho went 3-for-4 with a pair of base knocks and a three bagger. Omar’s numbers were a bit disappointing at 1-for-3, but her one hit was good for a homerun and an RBI in the top of the sixth.

Mix-A-Lot (8-2) didn’t waste any time as the second place squad scored three runs in the top of the first, three in the top of the third, and four in the top of the fourth before the Amigas (3-8) got on the board with three in the bottom of the inning. Each team scored three down the stretch as Mix-A-Lot stayed a half game behind Bomsoro.

Hitters 15, Sai-Steve Rookies 3

The Hitters kept pace with the second place Mix-A-Lot with a one-sided 15-3 win over the Sai-Steve Rookies that was decided via the 10-run mercy rule midway through the fifth inning on Tuesday night to earn its eighth win of the season.

Shortstop Thelma Mizer flexed her muscles with a flawless 2-for-2 outing at the plate that yielded an RBI double and an inside-the-park homerun to finish the night with three runs batted in, while Emy Quitugua went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and an RBI to improve the Hitters’ record to 8-2.

Pauline Tudela was a force with four runs batted in off of a single and an inside-the-park homerun to finish 2-for-3, while Yui Smus smack a solo inside-the-parker on a night in which the steady second baseman went 1-for-3.

The spirited Rookies never had a chance as the Hitters scored five in the first inning, three in the second, two in the third, and five in the fifth before umpires invoked the 10-run mercy rule to send everyone home early.
