The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library has changed the schedule for its Information Technology Center and is inviting the public to visit the library to view newly-acquired materials.

Technical Services librarian and acting director Julia E. Allen said the public library’s Information Technology Center would be open from 11:30am to 4pm only on Wednesdays. The new schedule started yesterday.

Allen said this change, which was implemented to better serve the CNMI community, applies only to the Wednesday hours of operations of the IT center.

The library also boasts of new collections, courtesy of the generous donations by supporters and exchange programs with other libraries, said Allen.

“Through the efforts of Philippine Consul General Wilfredo Maximo, the library has approximately 35 new titles for the Filipiniana Collection on topics of Filipino history, culture and art. Most materials are in English,” Allen said.

Moreover, the public library has also acquired nearly 50 new Chinese titles through an exchange program in Taiwan. Allen said the materials include Chinese language biographies, non-fiction, reference, and bilingual children’s books, both in Chinese and the English language.

She urged the public to help as well, as the library is still in need of new books, videos, and DVDs.

“Your contribution will help support the library’s mission of promoting education and community service,” she said.

For more information on how to donate materials or obtain a library card, interested individuals can call 235-7322 or visit the library in Susupe.
