The American Red Cross Northern Mariana Island Chapter announced yesterday the 2006 20th anniversary Walkathon.

This year’s co-chairs, Mili Saiki and John D. Guerrero, are working with a committee of volunteers to make this year’s event the best yet, according to a Red Cross statement.

The 10K walk will take place on Saturday, March 18, on all three islands. The start of the event on Saipan will be the 4-H building just next to the Sabula Market.

“We are excited about our 20th anniversary this year and will have special giveaways, a health fair, obstacle course, games and of course lots of fun for the whole family” said Guerrero.

The Walkathon is a fundraising event that promotes physical fitness and helps support the mission of the NMI Chapter of the Red Cross.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the planning committee should call 234-3459

The NMI Chapter is a non-profit organization committed to the people of the Commonwealth. It provides vital emergency disaster relief and training, comprehensive workplace health and safety programs and U.S. Armed Forces communications. (PR)
