Immigration agents have arrested an alleged overstaying Chinese tourist.

Li Kaifeng, 24, was taken yesterday before Superior Court presiding judge Robert C. Naraja.

Naraja ordered Li to appear in court on Feb. 9 and explain why he should not be deported from the CNMI.

Immigration Officer Erwin Flores said Li entered the Commonwealth under a visitor’s entry permit that expired on Sept. 27, 2004.

Flores said the respondent did not submit any application to the Department of Labor or to the Division of Immigration that would legitimize his status in the Commonwealth.

Assistant attorney general Ian Catlett represented the Immigration during the hearing.

Immigration agents are actively running after tourists who refuse to leave the CNMI.
