Telesource sued over crane accident
A construction company has sued another construction firm over a crane accident that allegedly injured an employee and caused property damage.
GPPC Inc., through counsel Mark B. Hanson, sued Telesource CNMI Inc. for negligence.
GPPC asked the Superior Court to order Telesource to pay general damages and medical expenses for one of its employees.
The plaintiff also demanded damages for its project’s delays, destruction of its property, and other losses associated with the company’s recovery from the accident.
The Saipan Tribune contacted Telesource for comment yesterday, but no one was available. The company did not return the Tribune’s call as of press time.
Hanson stated in the complaint that on May 28, 2005 Ernesto Medina was the operator of a crane owned and controlled by Telesource.
“Due to its negligent operation by Medina, the crane of Telesource caused damage and destruction to property of plaintiff at a job site of GPPC on Beach Road in Chalan Kanoa, causing work at the site to be shut down for a period of time,” Hanson said.
As a result of the accident, an employee of GPPC incurred medical expenses.
“As a direct and proximate cause of Medina’s breach of his duty of care, GPPC has suffered economic losses for, among other losses, property damage, project delay and costs, medical expenses and losses incidental to GPPC’s efforts to return its project site to full operation after the accident,” the lawyer added.
