Appointments to government posts are being made in batches, rather than all at once, because the newly installed leaders are trying to be careful in picking people to serve within their administration, press secretary Charles Reyes Jr. said.

Gov. Benigno R. Fitial signed yesterday a memorandum naming Angie Mangarero to serve as director of the Carolinian Affairs Office. Mangarero is currently an employee in that office.

The latest appointment brings to 23 the new governor’s appointees since he was sworn in Monday, Jan. 9, 2006.

“There are several more positions to fill. Appointments for those positions will be forthcoming. We are very careful and circumspect in making appointments because we take this matter seriously,” Reyes said.

So far, he added, Fitial’s appointments have been receiving favorable feedback from the public.

“I’ve been told personally by people that they are pleased with the appointments. We want to continue to make appointments that will be appreciated by the governor’s constituents,” Reyes said.

In his inaugural address Monday, Fitial announced 10 Cabinet nominations that must be confirmed by the Senate. He named another 12 appointees to various posts on Tuesday.
