Acting Labor Secretary Gil M. San Nicolas wants to improve the department’s transparency and customer services to the people.

In a notice issued yesterday, San Nicolas vowed to make better Labor’s customer services, with emphasis on making it “more business friendly, respectful, humble, and helpful in your needs.”

As a first step to realize such goal, the acting secretary implemented a customer survey to measure any areas of concern that the department can improve on.

San Nicolas, who remains in an acting capacity until his appointment is confirmed by the Senate, encouraged the public to answer the questionnaires so that Labor would know which areas need to be improved.

A suggestion box was installed right in front of the Division of Labor Processing where questionnaires are to be dropped.

San Nicolas said the survey is objective. It encourages the naming of affected personnel in order to provide these employees the opportunity to improve themselves, he added.

The survey applies to all unit or division within the department.

San Nicolas has been working at Labor for 18 years now. He was the deputy director of Labor when the Fitial administration appointed him to lead the department.

During the Pete Tenorio administration, San Nicolas served as the director of Labor. At that time, he had been also designated many times as Labor secretary.
