Mongolian invasion begins at ARC
The spirit of Genghis Khan and his fierce warriors are taking up residence at the Costa Terrace of the Aqua Resort Hotel, with the introduction of the Mongolian Barbecue Dinner Buffet every Wednesday night.
This latest offering by the Aqua Resort Club took off last Wednesday and, based on initial indications, promises to be a very successful affair, with guests crowding around the cooking station and taking their pick of their favorite ingredients on display.
For the uninitiated, Mongolian barbecue is not just a type of cuisine or style of cooking but is also a unique dining experience because it allows you to choose from a wide variety of fresh meat, seafood, noodles, vegetables and different types of sauces and spices that will be stir fried to perfection right in front of your eyes by on-the-spot cooking station chefs. Aqua Resort complements this offering with draft beer, iced tea, and a variety of juices.
Hotel GM Brian Pak said they came up with this concept to further solidify Aqua Resort’s reputation of being at the forefront of the culinary scene on Saipan.
“No other restaurants on Saipan serve Mongolian barbecue. We want people to associate Mongolian barbecue with the Aqua Resort Club. We want this to become a signature of Aqua. When people think of Mongolian barbecue, they will think of us,” said Pak.
ARC’s sales and marketing manager Dorry Gabutero said they also want to create more dining choices for their customers. “Since we only have two restaurants, we want to offer our customers more dining choices when they come to our hotel,” she said.
True to her word, last Wednesday night’s Mongolian Barbecue was a gustatory delight. The heady aroma of freshly grilled food and the expansive array of food at the buffet table combined for a dining experience unique unto itself. Add to that the charming and friendly staff of the Aqua Resort and guests are assured of a very pleasant evening.
The Mongolian Barbecue buffet, however, is not the only happening event at the Aqua Resort. The hotel is also offering its Healthy Twist dinner and the Chamorro Lunch-Barbecue at the Beach—themed dining events that seek to give people more choices when dining at the Achugao hotel.
The Healthy Twist dinner, an a la carte dining experience, is offered every Monday for the month of January. It features healthful foods for the health-conscious diner. The Chamorro Lunch-Barbecue at the Beach, on the other hand, is offered from Monday to Friday, from 11am to 2pm. It costs $18 per person.
The Mongolian Barbecue Dinner Buffet, which happens every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, is reasonably priced at $25 per person and $12.50 per child. Gabutero said that the 10 percent local discount applies, while Executive Circle members can avail of a 20 percent discount.
