The Northern Mariana Islands Council for the Humanities will hold a night with two prominent figures in American history: American president Theodore Roosevelt and literary master Mark Twain.

Dubbed Chautauqua 2006, the council is inviting the entire CNMI community to this intimate gathering on Friday, Jan. 13, at the Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s Cabaret. The event will start at 7pm.

The council said the event would feature interactive performances by noted Chautauqua scholars Dr. Doug Mishler and Warren Brown.

Tickets are $30 for single and $50 for a couple. “Fees include finger foods and a no-host bar,” said a news statement.

Tickets are available at the council office at Kings Plaza in Dandan. Interested parties can also get tickets from council board members. Due to limited seats, the public is encouraged to get the tickets immediately.

The council said proceeds would go to support its public humanities programs. For information, call any council staff at 235-4785.
