Eighty new food selections will tickle the palate of Saipan food aficionados when Café at the Park unveils its new menu next week.

This New Year change at the Café is being masterminded by new executive chef Roger Li, who will bring to this popular hangout his 12 years of culinary experience.

The new chef promises not only a delectable array of food, but also an enticing food presentation.

Li, no stranger to the culinary world, began his career in Guangzhou, China, in 1993 at the Ramada Pearl Hotel. He moved to the shores of the CNMI in 1998 as the chef de partié of Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino. He held that position until 2001 when he opted to become chef de partié at the Hyatt Regency Saipan.

He moved to Café at the Park on Dec. 17, 2005. “I wanted to move forward,” said Li.

He said his style of cooking is eclectic, with the end goal of delighting, surprising, and satisfying his customers.

Couture Marketing’s Andy Tidwell said the new menu will feature some great and exciting changes, with the Café providing Saipan an array of food choices that would range from the lighter fare to heavier signature dishes like the Grilled Hanger Steak or one of many pasta dishes.

The appetizer menu has been expanded to include one of Li’s favorite dishes: Café Honey Mayonnaise Shrimp, which are honey-glazed tiger prawns tossed in sesame seeds.

“I’m quite excited to be at Café at the Park. It’s great to be in an environment where I can develop a menu that is both delicious and a great art form. I pride myself on presentation,” said Li. “My philosophy about food is that it should be fresh and healthy. I only use natural and fresh ingredients in the kitchen.”

Café at the Park is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Average entrée prices are $12 and their daily lunch special includes the soup or salad of the day, an entrée, dessert, and bottomless iced tea for $12.95.

Dinner is served daily and a selection of beer, wines, and champagnes are available.

“You may also bring your own wine if you prefer,” said Li. Corkage fee is only $2.50 per person per bottle. For reservations call Café at the Park at 233-1010.
