Tanapag Elementary School and Saipan Southern High School received check donations from the PDL/Saipan Waste Management JV Friday morning.

The donation was part of the PDL/Saipan Waste Management’s educational tax credit as amended by the Department of Finance.

Site manager Mike Hathcock said the company started donating to deserving schools since 2003. He said the firm extended the donation in time for the holiday season and for welcoming the New Year.

Hathcock visited both schools in Koblerville and Tanapag last Friday and handed in person the checks to both principals.

TES principal Frances Ulloa and SSHS principal Peter Le’au personally received the donation from the company. Both principals expressed their gratitude to have been chosen as recipients of this year’s education tax credit from the solid waste management company.

“This is one of our way of getting something back to our community,” said Hathcock, adding that the company is glad that in simple ways they could help the education system, which has been cash strapped for years now.
