After announcing the latest qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Micronesian Games, the Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association is continuing to push for the best when Saipan plays host to the region this summer by inviting all indoor players interested in representing the Commonwealth to come to the Oleai Sports Complex this weekend.

According to NMIVA president Jon Cramer, the organization that put a new face on one of Saipan’s favorite sports will host its second round of indoor tryouts for both the men’s and women’s indoor squads at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The hard court leapers get their next taste of the tests this Saturday, Jan. 7, as the men and women will run drills and show off their skills bright an early at 9am. More details will be released in the coming days, but the time and venue are already set for the setters and spikers.

Following the first round of indoor assessment, NMIVA vice president Taula Peter said that there were a number of women who showed up for the tryouts the first time but that he was a little disappointed by the lack of men for the opening week.

The veteran player reminded all interested players that they are welcome to tryout for the team.
