BASICS Project teachers have teamed up to put together a seminar called Math and Science Conference on Technology, or MASCOT.

The BASICS Project Mathematics/Science Partnership Grant is a contractual partnership between the University of Guam and Guam Public School Systems. These teachers and others will share their knowledge with other educators from our region. Some of the workshop topics to be featured for the conference are: the Geometers Sketchpad, the Stock Market Game, Live Text, Storybook, Copyright Laws, Movie Maker, Record Books/Lesson Plans, Handhelds in the Mathematics Classroom, Hyperlinks, Budget Project, and Apple Technology Gadgets.

The conference will be held on Jan. 28 from 8am to 3pm, at the University of Guam Humanities and Social Sciences building, English and Communications building, and the CLASS Lecture Hall.

There will be numerous exhibitors and raffle prizes for attendees. The conference is open and free to all interested educators and conference participants have the option to earn one graduate credit for a nominal fee of $20 through UOGs PDLLC office.

If you are interested in attending or need additional information please send an email to mascotguam@hotmail.com or call UOGs Dr. Alicia Aguon or Dr. John Sanchez at 735-2409. BASICS stands for Building Algebra and Science into Classroom Settings. (PR)
