Fleming may get SA for administration post
Former Board of Education chair Esther Fleming may be appointed as special assistant for administration in the incoming administration of Gov.-elect Benigno Fitial and Lt. Gov.-elect Timothy Villagomez, an official of the transition team disclosed to the Saipan Tribune.
The transition official, who requested anonymity, said that Fleming was strongly recommended to the position and would likely get the nod from Fitial and Villagomez.
When contacted by the Saipan Tribune for comment yesterday, the former BOE chair and member admitted she heard about her possible appointment to the SA position.
Fleming, however, stated that, as of yesterday, she could not confirm it, considering that there are also other “contenders” and that the final say will be with Fitial and Villagomez.
When asked if she is going to accept the position if offered to her, Fleming responded, “I have to look at it and consider what’s for me…”
Fleming is the vice-chair of the inauguration committee chaired by Villagomez’s brother, former public health secretary Joseph Kevin Villagomez.
Fleming was a member of the 3rd Constitutional Convention. She is active in church activities.
