Outgoing Gov. Juan N. Babauta and Lt. Gov. Diego T. Benavente hosted a farewell luncheon for their Cabinet yesterday.

Almost 30 secretaries and directors attended the exclusive luncheon held from 12:30pm to 1:45pm at Aqua Resort Club in Achugao.

“It was a final Cabinet meeting and a farewell luncheon. The governor and the lieutenant governor just thanked everybody for the work that they did under their administration and the work that they did for the Commonwealth,” press secretary Peter Callaghan said.

Callaghan also reported that the Cabinet officials presented Babauta and Benavente a plaque each for their accomplishments over the past four years.

The governor also urged Cabinet officials to work smoothly with the transition team.

Some of the Cabinet officials present at the meeting were Attorney General Pamela S. Brown, governor’s legal counsel Steve Newman, senior policy advisor Bob Schwalbach, governor’s consultant Adam Turner, Public Health Secretary James Hofschneider, Labor Secretary Joaquin Tenorio, Public Safety Secretary Santiago Tudela, Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Juan L. Babauta, Commerce Secretary Andrew Salas, and Lands and Natural Resources Secretary Richard Seman.

Management and Budget director Ed Tenorio, Coastal Resources Management director Joaquin Salas, Environmental Quality director John Castro, attorney Joe Camacho, and governor’s secretary Celina Babauta.

Many of the Cabinet officials have turned in their resignation or gone on retirement to give way to the incoming administration of Speaker and Gov.-elect Benigno R. Fitial, and Vice Speaker and Lt. Gov.-elect Timothy P. Villagomez.

The new administration will assume office on Jan. 9, 2006.
