The Northern Marianas College Board of Regents will hold a gala dinner next month to kick-off its commemoration of the college’s 25th silver anniversary in 2006.

NMC president Tony V. Deleon Guerrero said the governing trustees will be sponsoring the 1st Annual NMC Board of Regents Fundraising Gala Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006. Deleon Guerrero said the event aims to raise funds for the establishment of a new NMC Regents Scholarship Program.

“Through this new institutional scholarship program, NMC will offer top academic students graduating from local high schools in the CNMI to attend NMC,” Deleon Guerrero said, adding that the plan for the initial year is to offer two scholarship awards for Saipan and one each for Tinian and Rota.

In addition to providing a $3,000 scholarship per academic year to each student, he said this new Regents Scholarship Program would also allow NMC to recruit top students from the CNMI and enhance local pride among the resident student population.

The NMC Board of Regents’ Fundraising Gala Dinner is scheduled on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, from 6pm to 10pm. It will be held at the Royal Taga Hall, Saipan World Resort. The Patrick Palomo Jazz Band will serenade the officers and guests. There will be a $100 fee per person as donation to the college.

“We look forward to everyone’s support in making this a successful NMC Fundraising event and let us all continue to strive in expanding accessibility to our higher education programs for our CNMI residents,” Deleon Guerrero said.
