With a strong turnout in attendance and continuous requests for more action, organizers of Trech Warz Fight Night announced that the event’s second edition is already being planned.

Event coordinator Cuki Alvarez of Trench Tech-Purebred Saipan disclosed during a recent interview that Trench Warz II is tentatively set for Feb. 11, 2006.

“We’re looking at a period from Feb. 11 and Feb. 18,” Alvarez said. “That’s not confirmed yet because some guys are probably going off island or working, but we’re really leaning on Feb. 11.”

The inaugural Trench Warz was held last Nov. 26 at the Trench Tech-Purebred Saipan Gym behind Moylans Insurance on Garapan, and drew a jam-packed crowd that was left in awe after witnessing 16 fights in various disciplines.

Among the top winners in the event were 16-year-old Frank Camacho and Jason Tarkong, as the two showcased their mixed martial arts skills in a rectangular-shaped cage.

Camacho took on Chuukese street fighter Bernie “The Shadow of Death” Neth in the main event, with Neth coming out strong and working Camacho against the fence and to the ground before attempting to choke out his younger opponent.

Camacho, however, turned the tables and electrified the gym by executing a double-leg takedown body slam before unleashing a series of left and right punches that forced referee Tatsuji Kato to interfere and call off the fight.

For his part, Tarkong bounced back from a loss in a recent no-holds barred fight by beating young gun Kelvin Fitial in the semi main event.

Fitial gave Tarkong a run for his money while the two were standing after landing a couple of strong punches, however, Tarkong eliminated Fitial’s height advantage by taking the Tower of Power down to the mat with a double-leg takedown and a rear-naked choke to perfection, leaving Fitial no choice but to tap out.

“Because we had such a successful event last Nov. 26, the demand is definitely there for Trench Warz II,” Alvarez said on Wednesday.

Alvarez recently made his pro fight debut in Fury IV: Collision on Guam last Dec. 10, beating Billy Ray Ada by technical knockout. He is also scheduled for another no-holds barred fight in Fury V, which will be on Jan. 28.
