IUMC to hold special Christmas services
Immanuel United Methodist Church will once again be holding special Christmas services during the weekend.
For those unable to attend their own church, are visitors to the island, or without a church home, IUMC is warmly welcoming them to attend any or all of their services.
On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, Saturday at 8pm, IUMC will hold its traditional “Lessons & Carols” and candle lighting service.
This is a special service in which various Bible passages relating to the birth of Christ are read and traditional Christmas carols sung. The service concludes with each participant lighting a candle of peace and singing of “Silent Night.” Originally “Silent Night” was performed on the guitar in a parish church in Austria. The father-son guitar duo of Dan and Seth Hocking will lead the congregation in singing this great Christmas.
On Sunday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day, IUMC will hold its Family Worship beginning at 9am. The service is a worship service for people of all ages and includes the annual “Christmas Pageant,” “Time with the Children,” and the singing of traditional Christmas hymns. A special offering will be received to help support starving women and children in Malawi, Africa.
For further information about these services, please contact Pastor Bud at 322-6158. IUMC is located in Koblerville, just beyond Guangdong Hardware and St. Jude’s Catholic Church. (PR)
