U.S. Courts for the Ninth Circuit Chief Judge Mary M. Schroeder has designated Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman to hold hearings in federal court.

Schroeder tapped Wiseman to conduct proceedings in the U.S. District Court for the NMI during the period beginning Jan. 1, 2006 and ending Dec. 31, 2006.

Schroeder said the judge may get “such additional time required in advance to prepare for the trial of cases, or thereafter as required to complete unfinished business.”

It was the fourth successive year that the 9th Circuit chief judge designated Wiseman to hold hearings at the district court.

Superior Court Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama has also been given the same designation over the past few years.

The designated judges conduct hearings in federal court when Chief Judge Alex R. Munson abstains from hearing a case or if he is off-island or on leave.
