DYS receives over 300 toys and gifts for children
Some 300 children, most of them under the care of the Division of Youth Services, will receive toys and gifts this holiday season after the division managed to pool over 300 gifts from various donors.
Among the donors, Bank of Hawaii disclosed that the 28 gifts it donated to DYS actually came from the bank employees.
“This is not bank money. It’s truly a gift from the heart,” said BoH vice president Steve Brock.
Brock said the bank would like to give something back to the community, responding to DYS’ request when the government agency sought help to provide gifts for children.
“All the bank staff came up with these items and donated these items,” Brock said.
DYS volunteer program coordinator Vivian Sablan thanked the BoH, as well as the many donors that participated in the project. Sablan said the gifts would give a smile on the faces of youth, some of whom were victims of abuse and neglect.
Other gift donors include Hyatt Regency Saipan, Refalewasch Golf Association, Whispering Palms School, Garapan Elementary School, Saipan International School, Ladies Lunch Group, Shirley’s Coffee Shop, Marianas Cable Vision, Coca Cola Company, Chacha Oceanview Middle School, Saipan Stevedore, and Little Darlings Child and Respite Care, Inc.
Individual donors include Susan and Annrit Quitano, Thelma Inos, Kuino Camacho, Esther Delos Reyes, May Reyes, Juanita Fajardo, Gus Camacho, Chris Camacho, Peter Boy Camacho, Remy, Jessmin Wabol, and the Aquinos—Danny, Joann, Alicia, Mathew, and Zachary.
