A teenager was given a jail term for sexually abusing a minor last year.

Superior Court Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama sentenced the 19-year-old Daniel Johnny Jr. to three years in jail, all suspended except 540 days, for sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.

Following a plea agreement, Lizama gave Johnny Jr. credit for the 450 days he already served in jail.

Lizama said the defendant must serve 97 more days in jail.

Johnny Jr. is expected to complete his jail term on March 14, 2006.

After completing the prison term, the defendant will be placed on three years of probation and required to pay $1,000 fine and perform 200 hours of community work service.

Johnny Jr. was directed to write a letter of apology to the victim.

The Attorney General’s Office charged Johnny Jr. with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, one count of assault and battery, and one count of disturbing the peace.

The defendant entered a plea agreement with the government.

Court papers said Johnny Jr. sexually abused the victim in May 2004. (Ferdie de la Torre)
