DUI/sobriety checkpoints this weekend

This is to inform the general public that Department of Public Safety will be conducting several sobriety checkpoints starting today until Sunday.

Dec. 16-17
First checkpoint will be on Beach Road Chalan Piao by Hopwood Jr. High School, between 8pm to 9:15pm on Dec. 16.

Second Checkpoint will be on Beach Road by Multi-Purpose building, between 11pm, Dec. 16, to 12:1am, Dec. 17.

Third checkpoint will be on Beach Road Garapan by Bank Pacific, between 2am to 3:15am on Dec. 17.

Dec. 17-18
The first set up will be on 2W Highway Navy Hill by Grand Market, between 8pm to 9:15pm on Dec. 17.

The second set up will be on Beach Road Chalan Kanoa by Carmen Safeway, between 11pm, Dec. 17, to 12:15am, Dec. 18.

The third set up will be on 2W Highway Chalan Laulau by Covenant Headquarter, between 2am to 3:15am on Dec. 18.

The fourth set up will be on Beach Road Chalan Laulau by Quarter Master Road, between 2am to 3:15am on Dec. 18.

Both third and fourth checkpoints will be set up and in operation simultaneously.

Each checkpoint conducted will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes) at each location. This activity is part of the department’s efforts to deter and detect and ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser activities.
