Saipan Community Church welcomes everyone to their production of the musical drama “Journey to the Manger.”

The one-hour drama is suitable for the entire family and is the story about one man’s discovery of the spiritual meaning of Christmas.

The story follows Nathan Row, a well-known sculptor, who has hand-carved a Nativity scene, but its only value to him is what it will fetch on the market. He sees Christmas as a commercial opportunity, and nothing more.

Falling asleep in his studio that night, Nathan watches two of his sculpted figures, Joseph and Mary, come to life. They transport him from the Depression Era, to Renaissance Italy, to the streets of England, to a simple church in Austria, and then to the manger. In his journey, Nathan learns the importance of the birth that took place in the manger on that first Christmas. In the morning, he awakens to his first true Christmas, understanding the hope, joy, and love that Christ brought to the world.

The music for this drama will be presented by a 36-member choir lead by director Jonathan Frasco, while the drama part will be directed Violy Espiritu Chavez.

Many of the songs performed by the choir will be well-known Christmas carols, such as “Silent Night! “Holy Night!” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Joy to the World,” “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen,” and “Away In A Manger.” The music will stir the Christmas spirit in everyone’s heart.

Among the five-member cast will be Senior Pastor Glenn Jenkins and Associate Pastor Roger Abe.

Only two performances will be offered of this Christmas story. The first will be on Saturday evening, Dec. 17, at 7pm. The second will be on Wednesday evening, Dec. 21, at 7pm. The location is at Saipan Community Church, adjacent to Saipan Community School, in Susupe. Admission is free. (PR)
