It’s time to lace up the sneakers and to put a shine on your holiday spirit as the Saipan Swim Club is hosting the 2nd Annual Jingle Bell Fun Run next week in an effort to raise funds for the organization that aims to put medals on the table in the upcoming 2006 Micronesian Games.

Walkers, runners, and sleigh drivers are all welcome to join the 5-kilometer fun run next Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Garapan Fishing Base across the street from the Kristo Rai church on Beach Road as they journey south to the finish line approximately three miles down the road at AJ’s Restaurant in Susupe.

Organizers are hoping to top last year’s total of 191 runners, and have lowered the registration fee to $10 to encourage more people to come out and enjoy the trek along the Beach Pathway.

The fee includes a free T-shirt, free beverages at AJ’s, and the opportunity to win one of the many prizes that will be raffled away following the run. Entrants don’t have to worry about getting back to the Fishing Base for their vehicles, as the organizers will shuttle everyone back to Garapan.

Registration starts at 5pm, with the run taking place an hour later, and participants are also invited to bring their cats, dogs, fish, and frogs as the people from the Pet Assistance and Welfare Services (PAWS) will award a prize to the best pet Christmas costume.
