Live ordnance to be set off this Saturday in Marpi

The Department of Public Safety with the coordination of Emergency Management Office, Office of the Governor and in conjunction with COMNAVMAR Guam, would like to inform the general public that the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachment Team from Guam will detonate World War II Live Ordnance on Laderan Laggun on Saipan this Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1pm to 2pm.

The general location of this activity would be a mile north of Marpi Landfill. The grid coordinates is 15 degrees 16.11 minutes 0.0865 seconds North and 145 degrees 49 minutes 0.3313 seconds East and 5,000 feet above sea level (ASL).

Due to the danger imposed by this activity, Gov. Juan N. Babauta is advising the general public, especially commercial pilots, tour operators, residents, farmers, tourists, bikers, joggers, and fishermen to stay at least a mile away from this area during the time and date indicated.

The cooperation and understanding of the general public is greatly appreciated.
