Jealousy a motive in Manahane case?
Jealousy could be the possible motive behind the mysterious disappearance of John G. Manahane who was said to have been murdered and buried somewhere on Tinian.
Two reliable sources from Tinian, who agreed to speak with the Saipan Tribune on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the 24-year-old Manahane was “madly in love” with the aunt of his long-time girlfriend.
Luis Manahane, father of John Manahane, confirmed with the Saipan Tribune that he also received such information but that he was not clear about it.
The long-time girlfriend allegedly broke off her relationship with John Manahane last year after learning that he was “seeing” her aunt, said the sources.
Both said the aunt left her boyfriend—an ex-convict—to live with John Manahane.
In July 2004, the aunt allegedly told her boyfriend that she would help a friend clean her house but the real intention was that the aunt wanted to meet with John Manahane. The house owner got upset because when the boyfriend came, the aunt asked her to hide John Manahane, sources added.
The aunt was by then reportedly willing to end her relationship with John Manahane, but the latter refused “because he was so much in love with her,” sources said.
Luis Manahane earlier disclosed that agents from the Attorney General’s Investigative Unit have already identified two suspects behind the disappearance of his son.
A relative of Luis Manahane earlier stated that John Manahane was a drug case witness. But this was not confirmed by the AGIU.
The AGIU has reportedly started pursuing its investigation of the case in August 2005 after receiving tips that John Manahane was allegedly killed and his body was buried at a farm near a cliff line.
Luis Manahane traveled two weeks ago to Saipan from Redding, California, where he works, after learning about what happened to his son. He is still on the island to follow-up the case, appealing to investigators and witnesses to complete the probe.
The Attorney General’s Office and the AGIU had already confirmed that investigation is ongoing and that no body has been recovered yet. (Ferdie De La Torre)
