Hopwood events in November

* Hopwood Junior High School will run out of 2005-06 student data portfolios (handbooks) that it uses for home-school communication. Hopwood has a limited number of 2004-05 handbooks available as a substitute, but those who want to get them are advised that the policies, procedures, and calendar dates may be slightly different in last year’s handbook. If anyone has any questions or needs clarification on any current information, call the school at 664-5075. A nominal replacement fee of $1 will be charged for each replacement handbook.

* Hopwood would be having Saturday Reading Program on Nov. 19 and the theme is Thanksgiving.

* Parent and Community Take Over Day would also be held on Nov. 22. Students are requested to fill out and return the attached survey, or call the school at the above number to sign up to volunteer.

* On Nov. 27, Sunday, vice principal Gagaring will be organizing a community workday on Hopwood’s campus. Students are requested to bring their entire family and any tools and/or gardening equipment you may have. The affair is a potluck, barbeque, and work together affair. Call 664-5003 to volunteer or to sign up to bring potluck items. (PR)

ASVAB test this Saturday

Who: High school graduates, high school seniors, or those with a GED. Active duty applicants ages 17-34. Army Reserve applicants ages 17-39. Must be a citizen of the U.S., Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, or have a 1-551 (Permanent Resident Card).

What: The ASVAB, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery

Where: U.S. Reserve Center in Puerto Rico.

When: Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7:30am and at 1:30pm.

Why: To take advantage of Army incentives like money for college, skills training, guaranteed pay and entitlements, travel adventure, full medical and dental care, 20-year retirement and much, much more.

Rev & Tax Employers’ Yearend Seminars on Dec. 7

The Division of Revenue and Tax will be conducting two Employers’ Yearend Seminars on Dec. 7, 2005. The first seminar will be from 8am to 11am and the second will be from 1pm to 4pm at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

Seminars will cover important compliance rules and instructions pertaining to the filling for Forms W-2CM, Wage and Tax Statement: OS-3710, Annual Reconciliation of Taxed Withheld; and W-2G, Gambling Statement. Also to be covered are important compliance rules and instructions on the Magnetic Filing of these forms.

Chacha Q2 mid-progress report, Open House

All parents, guardians, and the public are being informed that Chacha Oceanview Jr. High School will be having its 2nd Quarter Mid-Progress Report-Open House this Friday, Nov. 18, from 4pm to 6pm.

“We are encouraging all to come visit and discuss your child’s progress during this Open House,” the school said in a statement. “We hope to see you on Friday. If you don’t know your child’s homeroom teacher, check with us in the main office.”

Saipan Southern happenings

* To all parents/legal guardians of Saipan Southern High School students, there will be a Parents Teachers Association meeting today, Nov. 17, 2005, at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria.

* The Mid-Progress Report is scheduled to be picked up on Friday, Nov. 18, from 1pm to 5pm. Teachers will be available in their rooms for parents’ visit.

* Saipan Southern High School would be holding make-up classes for days missed due to Typhoon Nabi on Dec. 22, Thursday, and Dec. 23, Friday. The make-up days will be regular hours from 8am to 3pm. For more information about the make-up days, call SSHS at 664-4000.

Dandan Elementary activities

The Tottot family would like to remind the entire Dandan Elementary School Community of the following important dates to remember and school activities for the month of October:

* Dec. 22 and 23: Make up days for Typhoon Nabi.

Class makeup days on Tinian

Tinian Jr./Sr. High School will make up the instructional days missed on the following dates:

Nov. 22 and 25: Regular schools days

Dec. 22 and 23: Regular schools days

Saturday Academy starts at 8am through noon. Breakfast, snacks and lunch will be served.

Mondays and Wednesdays 6pm-8pm

U.S. History Extended Class-Library

Parents are guardians must provide transportation to and from school. For evening extended classes, parents must pick up students on time.
