Teen charged with sex abuse of minor

The Attorney General’s Office yesterday charged a teenager with sexually abusing a minor.

CNMI chief prosecutor Jeffrey Moots filed with the Superior Court a criminal information charging 18-year-old Salik Aliksa Monkeya with sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.

Moots said Monkeya had sex with a 15-year-old girl on Saipan last Oct. 7.

The court summoned Monkeya to appear before it on Dec. 5 in connection with the case.

Man allegedly hits woman with empty can

A man is facing a criminal case for allegedly hitting a woman with a soda can.

The Attorney General’s Office charged 37-year-old Tamita T. Haro with assault and battery.

The Superior Court summoned Haro to appear before it on Dec. 5 regarding the case.

CNMI chief prosecutor Jeffrey Moots said Haro not only hit the woman with an empty soda can, but also pulled her hair and scratched her face on Saipan last Sept. 19.

Man in hot water for allegedly slapping woman

A man is in hot water for allegedly slapping a woman in another case of domestic abuse on Saipan.

Chief prosecutor Jeffrey Moots said Sung Hoon Chung, a 33-year-old Chalan Kanoa resident, slapped a woman on Saipan last Oct. 22.

Moots charged Chung with assault and battery. The Superior Court summoned Chung to appear before it on Dec. 5.
