There is less than one month left before the traditional Christmas ballet performance staged by Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts. This year the audience will enjoy the famous “Swan Lake”—an adopted version of the classic ballet composed by Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky, followed by the Concert of Ballet Stars. This international project will gather professional ballet dancers from Russia, Japan, and Saipan.

Two performers will take part in the December event right after their tour in Holland:

* Nikolai Kalabin (Perm, Russia) is well-known to local audiences after last year’s performance of “The Nutcracker”;

* Dasha Sosnina (Perm, Russia) is known from the very first Christmas performance in 2002.

Two other ballet dancers from Takagi Ballet School (Tokyo, Japan) are new for the local audience: Saeka Kato and Aya Muto will perform during the concert.

Local ballet teacher and star Anna Glushko is also going to take part in the Concert of Ballet Stars, performing several exciting numbers.

The founder and owner of Takagi Ballet School, Yoshiko Takagi, will be a participant in the Christmas event as well. Takagi has 40 years of teaching experience and her school has very close connections with professional ballet dancers in Russia and Japan.

A ballet workshop—a great opportunity for ballet teachers and GAPA students to share in their experiences—will precede the Christmas performance.

The realization of the Christmas project will cost a lot, and all participants appreciate their sponsors and friends who gave donations.

GAPA, together with non-profit organization Marianas Art Connections, is conducting a fundraising raffle, with very attractive prizes and tickets at only $1 each.

Fundraising tickets and tickets for the Christmas Ballet performance are available at Glushko’s Academy at the 4th floor of the Nauru Bldg. or call 483-6271.

The Christmas ballet performance tickets are also available at Shell gas stations, Ebisuya Store, and the Thai House Restaurant.

The performance will be staged at the Theatre Hall of the Nikko Hotel on Dec. 9 (Friday) and 10 (Saturday) at 7pm.
