Schools of swimmers to hit the pool in Marpi
The Kan Pacific tank in Marpi will be teeming with tadpoles this weekend as the Saipan Swim Club well host the 13th annual All-Schools Meet as Whispering Palms Elementary looks to repeat last year’s feat as the top point getter.
Kids of all ages will plunge into the blue tomorrow, Nov. 12, when the best of the local elementary, junior, and senior high swimmers flex their school spirit in the pool under the watchful eye of Saipan Swim Club coach Michael Stewart.
As of yesterday, Mount Carmel School, Saipan Community School, Saipan International School, San Vicente School, and Whispering Palms will be represented in the Elementary division, while Cha Cha Ocean View, Mount Carmel School, Saipan Community School,
Saipan International School, and Whispering Palms School will enter the junior high waters.
Six schools are all signed up for what could prove to be the fastest events as Calvary Christian Academy, Marianas High School, Marianas Baptist Academy, Mount Carmel School, Saipan International School, and Saipan Southern round out the High School division..
According to Stewart, the defending champions from each division look to be very strong again this year, while Whispering Palms School has a good shot a repeating in the elementary division with Ilia Corella, Ashley Northen, Opel Northen, Amy Arenovski, Marina Kaku, and R.J. Knecht. Last time out they out-pointed all-comers, but Kensuka Kimera, Andrew Kimball, Grace Kimball, and Mark Puno of Saipan Community School are looking to be strong challengers in 2005
The coach added that while the defending champ SIS Geckos are boasting another strong team with Sarah Johnson, Dominique Austin, Annie Camacho, Salyna Leon Guerrero, Cooper Graf, and Blair Nichols in the junior high division, they will be strongly tested by Amber Roberts, Bradley Brostrom, Lucas Knecht, Kai Staal, and Hunter Thorpe of Whispering Palms, and the BB kids Ben Babauta and John Benavente from Mount Carmel.
After representing the CNMI in the Mini Games with honor, Nina Mosley, Natasha Good, and Myana Welch will be joined by Marianas Baptist Academy classmates Efraim Camacho and En Yung Pang as the clear favorites in the high school division, but they will face stiff competition from the recently transferred Michael and Juan Camacho of Calvary Christian Academy.
While the meet will get underway promptly at 8am, parents and participants are reminded to be at the facility for warm-ups at 7am.
