Eight teams have confirmed their participation in the upcoming 2005 IVYBL Christmas Basketball Tournament.

Co-coordinator Joe Mettao disclosed yesterday that the Matansa Sparks, Garapan Rollers I and II, Tinian Stallions, Afetnas, Tanapag Young Warriors, and the San Antonio Sixers I and II have confirmed playing in the tourney, which will be held from Dec. 27 to Dec. 29 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, and that slots are limited to just 10 teams. If necessary, games will be played on Dec. 30.

Being that the tournament is organized by the IVYBL, league rules and regulations will apply, such as all cagers in the 15-player roster must be under the age of 15 years. Also, all players on the roster who are present during the game must see action.

Teams making it to the playoffs are assured cash prizes, with the champion receiving $150, the runner-up getting $125, third place $100, and fourth place $75. Trophies will also be presented to the top teams.

In addition, a trophy and $50 will be awarded for best sportsmanship, while $25 and a trophy will be given to the most valuable player.

A banquet and awards ceremony will be held immediately after the championship game.

Interested teams must pay an entrance fee of $100 by Nov. 30, with the first 10 teams settling their payment accepted to take part.

Another meeting will be held on Nov. 19. (Shan Seman)
