VFW teams win and lose
Sister teams VFW What Doing and VFW Leaders got opposite ends of the stick in Week 3 of the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League Tuesday night.
Playing in hostile ground at Jewel Sports Bar in Chalan Piao, VFW What Doing pulled off a 4-2 victory over Jewel Night Shooters. The victory improved the team’s win-loss record to 8-10, while pushing Jewel Night Shooters a game back at 7-11.
Jao Bernardo, Diamond Aldan, and Anthony Arriola took credit for VFW What Doing’s three singles wins, while Aldan and Bernardo won in the doubles.
While VFW What Doing was carving out a win behind enemy lines, VFW Leaders were not able to defend home floor when they were shutout by Bud’s Killaz 6-0 at the VFW Post 3457 in Garapan.
Peter Pereda, Jackie Sasaki, Bill Villagomez, Henry Sasaki, and the pairings of Larry Briones and Wallace William and Canice Rabauliman and Vidal Camacho all posted victories at the expense of VFW Leaders players.
Bud’s Killaz’s impressive wins shoved it to above .500 in the team standings at 10-8, while the loss drove VFW Leaders even deeper into the cellar with a 2-16 card.
In other head-to-head matches, league leading Da Terminators almost fashioned out a sweep of USSP Fotten Gaga, 5-1, at the USS Peleliu Club and USSP Fotten Palau defeated Round Two Hustlers, 4-2, at Round Two Bar and Grill.
Da Terminators (15-3) showed good form against USSP Fotten Gaga (6-12) with Luis Fajardo, R.J. Mascarinas, and Frank Pangelinan taking care of their singles assignments and Fajardo and Senen Pangilinan and Pangelinan and Mascarinas winning their doubles matches.
USSP Fotten Palau (14-4) was simply smoking against Round Two Hustlers (10-8) with Gary Orpiano, Mei Rengiil, R.E. Rengiil, and Edward Suzuki winning all their singles matches. Round Two Hustlers’ two wins were courtesy of Ike Celis and Joey Lucido and Rowell Mariano and Neil Pagaduan.
