Burglars steal vegetables, paint

Unidentified burglars broke into a Dandan establishment and stole vegetables and buckets of paint, police said yesterday.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Catherine Sheu said the incident happened at the DL Corp. in Dandan.

The company’s staff discovered the burglary when they reported for work Monday morning after the weekend’s CNMI general elections.

Sheu said the Criminal Investigation Bureau is now investigating the case to ascertain the identities of the culprits.

Hit-and-run victim files complaint before DPS

Police are investigating an accident involving two vehicles, where one allegedly fled the scene after hitting the other.

The victim reported the incident to police Monday night, Department of Public Safety spokesperson Catherine Sheu said yesterday.

Sheu did not name the victim’s identity, but she said the motorist was driving a sedan on the outer northbound lane of Beach Road by the Marianas Visitors Authority’s offices when the incident happened.

Citing results of preliminary investigation, Sheu said a van sideswiped the sedan. She said both vehicles stopped right after the accident, but the van suddenly sped off.

Sheu said the sedan’s driver noted the van’s license plate and reported the incident to police. She did not disclose the license plate, saying that traffic investigators are investigating the case further.
